BMAP® Knee Bioreactor

BMAP® KNEE is the only commercial bioreactor in the world designed specifically for maturing knee cartilage tissue. This patented bioreactor replicates the human knee’s physiological conditions with unique precision, providing advanced mechanical stimulation and a fully controlled, bioactive environment for tissue maturation. Researchers and industry professionals can rely on BMAP® Knee to bridge the gap between 3D bioprinting and functional tissue engineering, ensuring that lab-grown cartilage tissues develop into robust, clinically relevant grafts. The BMAP KNEE® bioreactor accommodates an anatomically accurate joint model – combining bone and cartilage components – and applies controlled movements (traction-compression, flexion-extension, rotation, etc.) that replicate the natural motions of the human knee. Inside a sterile chamber with tightly regulated temperature, CO₂, pH, chondrocyte-laden constructs undergo continuous conditioning—“stimulating” the tissue 24/7 as if it was in vivo. After several weeks of bioreactor stimulation, the result is a functional cartilage tissue with the potential to be implanted for the repair of knee defects.
