Ru(BPY)₃ (Tris(2,2′-bipyridyl)dichlororuthenium(II) hexahydrate) is a water-soluble photoinitiator activated by visible light (≥ 400 nm, optimal at 450 nm). When combined with sodium persulfate (SPS), it enables gentle crosslinking of biomaterials like GelMA, collagen, and silk fibroin, ensuring high cell viability and precise polymerization in 3D bioprinting applications.
